The conference program will mainly focus on the lectures and posters of the topics mentioned in the right-hand column. In addition, structured sessions will be assembled in some fields of work, for which the contributions are initiated by the session chairs.
Application of machine learning in experimental and numerical aeroacoustics
Organised by: Stefan Schoder & Viktor Hruska
Auditory Cognition in Interactive Virtual Environments
Organised by: Janina Fels & Carolin Breuer
This session is dedicated to auditory cognition in interactive virtual environments. We invite contributions exploring how interactive virtual and mixed reality environments can serve as realistic yet controlled settings for investigating the fundamental processes of auditory perception and cognition. Topics include the generation and rendering of acoustic scenes, natural listener–scene interaction, and methods for assessing the quality of VR-based auditory research.

- Modellierung, Messung, Simulation und technische Minderung der Geräuschemissionen des Schienenverkehrs
- Wirkung, Regulierung und Minderung des Schienenverkehrslärm
Computational Audio Analysis for Bioacoustic and Biodiversity Measurement
Organised by: Jakob Abeßer & Andrew Fairbairn
This session focuses on computational and acoustic methods for studying animal sounds—covering species/individual identification, passive acoustic monitoring for population and behavior studies, and habitat-specific challenges like noise and data scarcity. It bridges AI-based machine listening (deep learning, foundation models like BirdNET) and classical signal processing, aiming to connect acousticians, bioacoustics/machine listening researchers, and ecologists. Unlike urban soundscape research focused on human perception, this session centers on animal acoustic behavior for biodiversity and ecosystem health assessment. Submissions can include original research, dataset/system demos, tutorials, or overview talks spanning acoustics, computer science, ecology, and conservation biology.
Elektronikkomponenten und Leitungen in der Fahrzeugakustik
Organised by: Heiko Atzrodt & Robert Henneberger
Music Information Retrieval
Organised by: Stefan Balke & Meinard Müller
Music Information Retrieval (MIR) has evolved into a vibrant interdisciplinary field at the intersection of computer science, acoustics, and musicology. At its core, MIR addresses fundamental challenges in accessing, understanding, and interacting with music across diverse formats and data modalities. This session brings together researchers working on both foundational and applied aspects of MIR, with a focus on music processing, audio signal processing, machine learning, and artificial intelligence. Topics include deep learning techniques for raw audio analysis, hybrid and explainable modeling, the integration of musical domain knowledge into data-driven approaches, and the use of specialized music corpora for cross-disciplinary applications.
We particularly encourage experimental and exploratory contributions that investigate unconventional ideas, offer novel research perspectives, reveal the strenghts and limitations of machine learning methods in the music domain, or address educational aspects of MIR. Contributions are welcome from researchers in MIR, audio engineering, computational musicology, music recommendation, digital music libraries, and related areas.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Deep learning for audio and symbolic music data
- Hybrid, explainable, and differentiable models
- Data preprocessing, augmentation, and annotation
- Structure analysis, transcription, and source separation
- Interactive and human-in-the-loop systems
- Applications in musicology, recommendation, and retrieval
- Open infrastructure, benchmarking, and reproducibility
Notes: Contributions may be submitted in English or German. The session will be held in English by default, with German-language presentations possible upon request.
Quality Assessment of AI-Generated and AI-Enhanced Audiovisual Communication
Organised by: Wafaa Wardah, Robert Spang & Sebastian Möller
This session will bring together research on subjective and instrumental assessment of AI-generated and AI-enhanced speech in audiovisual communication, including perceptual quality dimensions, audiovisual interactions and coherence, speech and audio enhancement, generative speech, and machine-learning-based quality prediction. The session aims to connect established expertise in acoustic and speech quality assessment with emerging challenges in multimodal, AI-mediated communication.
Spatial Characteristics of Sound Sources: Measurement, Modeling, and Auralization
Organised by: Matthias Frank & Christoph Pörschmann
In virtual acoustic environments, sound sources are often represented using simplified models of their spatial characteristics. In contrast, real-world sound sources can exhibit complex, potentially time-varying radiation patterns, and their acoustic centre may be frequency-dependent or even change over time. This structured session brings together contributions addressing the measurement, modeling, and auralization of spatial sound source characteristics.
Traffic noise mitigation for the livable city of the future
Organised by: Florian Kraxberger, Christian Adams & Dominik Mayrhofer
Traffic noise remains a major environmental challenge in urban areas and requires interdisciplinary research. This structured session will address current advances in the understanding and mitigation of transportation noise, including noise source mechanisms, noise propagation, and effects of noise exposure on humans. Contributions are invited on road, rail, air traffic, and other emerging mobility-related noise sources such as urban air mobility and electric and autonomous vehicles. Topics of interest include new noise mitigation measures, e.g., acoustic metamaterials under practical constraints in cities (space, materials, circularity etc.), psychoacoustic assessment of noise exposure, noise mapping and soundscape research towards a quieter city, as well as emerging methods to analyse, predict or manage noise in cities. The session aims to provide a forum for discussing recent scientific developments, methodological advances, and future challenges in creating acoustically sustainable and livable urban environments.
Wahrnehmungsbezogene Bewertung akustischer Maßnahmen und Interventionen
Organised by: André Fiebig & Jochen Steffens
